sound memory installation
a loop of the entire volume of personal field recordings is played through a 24-channel sound system distributed throughout the exhibition space. each speaker’s playback position is offset, creating a complex auralization of externalized sonic memory, completing one full loop throughout the duration of the exhibition.
sculptural aspects appear in the hanging and laying of a few hundred meters of cables, fluorescent lights and technical equipment, incorporating the piano that belonged to the exhibition space.
the piece reflects an attempt at working with the intense volume of accumulated, external memory that the cyborg has access to, without the ability to forget or search for specific ones. the friction of this technical frustration has a creative role in the necessity to create a new structure of moving through sonic memory.
