liminal self portrait (2020)

a collapsed version of an earlier work stands leaning against a wall, together with a failed example of an attempt to realize pre-conceived art. out of the same power distribution grows a third piece: combining the technically nonsensical arrangement of three-way power splitters plugged into themselves in a circle with aesthetically pleasing backlighting.

marking a time of intense reevaluation of the relationship between the material, the symbolic and the transcendent in the artist’s own life, liminal self portrait depicts a state of mind between worldviews, where self-concept is in flux and a new understanding of reality and artwork is formed.
